It’s no secret that Volkswagen's suffer from weak, failure prone rubber trailing arm bushings. The stock rubber bushings are designed to allow significant movement of the rear wheels and to absorb road impacts. This compliant design maximizes daily driving comfort and helps add to the “luxury” feeling of your VW, but it also contributes to the numb, disconnected feeling that many enthusiasts complain about with modern cars. Not only is the OEM design far from ideal for the street or racing enthusiast that is looking for optimal handling and braking performance, the constant twisting and deflection required of the rubber bushing often causes premature failure, resulting in degraded handling, wheel shimmy, delayed turn-in response, delayed braking response, unwanted alignment change, and poor tire wear. For the rest of us who enjoy seeing what our car is made of, these types of bushing simply won’t cut it. Introducing the new ECS Tuning Rear Trailing Arm Monoball Bushings! The ECS Engineering team set out to design a solution that offers a far superior bushing when compared to OEM, requiring no modification and offering nearly instantaneous cornering, accelerating and decelerating response for the absolute best road feel and driving experience possible. Our monoball bushings utilize a sealed OEM Mercedes-Benz ball joint for exceptional quality and durability. The bearing assembly is precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum and features a knurled OD to ensure a perfect press fit and the longest lasting component life possible. By utilizing a sealed ball joint, ECS achieved the ultimate in terms of low friction no bind suspension travel with no unwanted deflection, providing exceptional cornering response, and prompt acceleration and deceleration feedback, all while maintaining exceptional comfort and durability levels making these an excellent no compromise upgrade even for a street car. These trailing arm monoball bushings are a must have for any track car, but are also completely street-able and are a great upgrade for any enthusiast that enjoys spirited driving. Pre-assembled in-house by the experts at ECS Tuning, we take the legwork out from pressing the bushings yourself while using high quality aftermarket rear trailing arms. PART DESIGN Precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum Type II red anodized aluminum finish for corrosion resistance Knurled OD to provide the perfect fit for the wide range of trailing arm bore diameters among brands BEARING INSERTS CNC machined annealed 303 stainless steel ball joint sleeve inserts, providing a precision fit between the ball joint and the trailing arm bracket 302 stainless steel internal and external Smalley Spirolox® snap rings BALL JOINT / MONOBALL OEM Mercedes-Benz sealed and greased ball joint for exceptional durability and long service life KIT CONTENTS ECS Rear Trailing Arm Monoball Bushings - Pre-assembled into high quality aftermarket rear trailing arms PERFORMANCE FEATURES Nearly instantaneous, crisp cornering ability and prompt acceleration and deceleration feedback Maintenance-free, long-lasting performance Improved road feel without undesirable NVH PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Our ECS Rear Trailing Arm Monoball Bushing Set was designed, engineered, tested and quality inspected by our Research and Development team in our Wadsworth, Ohio facility. We strive for the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long term product testing.
