The Second Generation (2017–2023) R8 topped its predecessor’s supercar legacy with an even more potent version of the Lamborghini-sourced 5.2L V10. Delivering up to 602 horsepower in Plus and Performance variants, this mid-engine masterpiece is a benchmark of modern hypercar performance. Unfortunately, Audi’s factory airbox does little to complement this engine’s exotic nature, visually or functionally. To address this shortcoming, enhance airflow, and boost aesthetics, our engineers set out to create the ultimate induction upgrade: the Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Intake System.

Twin carbon fiber airboxes serve as the foundation of our Kohlefaser Luft-Technik system. Each houses a massive 4.25" dual-cone air filter engineered to maximize surface area and optimize airflow. These performance filters are designed to deliver improved filtration and reduced pressure drop, supporting the high-revving V10 with enhanced throttle response and induction volume. Our exclusive design retains the factory cold air ducting to ensure cool ambient air delivery, enhancing overall efficiency and power delivery.

Designed with optimized airflow in mind, our design ditches the restrictive factory MAF tubes in favor of free-flowing, 4.25" carbon fiber velocity stacks. These precision-molded pieces are designed to smooth intake airflow and eliminate turbulence, increasing cold air delivery and ensuring optimal intake efficiency. Despite their advanced design, our velocity stacks maintain the factory mass airflow sensor location for CEL-free operation. No tune is required!

Crafted entirely from premium 2x2 twill weave carbon fiber, this intake system delivers exceptional performance with increased visual impact to boot. The carbon fiber airboxes, lids, and velocity stacks are finished with a high-gloss clear coat that protects them from harmful UV rays, ensuring a long-lasting, show-ready appearance. Our exclusive design mirrors the directional carbon fiber weave found on the OEM engine compartment trim, providing seamless integration and a cohesive, factory-like appearance.

Our Kohlefaser Luft-Technik Intake System was designed, engineered, tested, and quality inspected by our Research and Development team in our Wadsworth, Ohio, facility. We strive for the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology, including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long-term product testing.
