If you have added a larger Front Big Brake Kit but are still left with OEM solid-disc rear brakes, your car's braking performance is leaving more on the table.
With the ECS 320x10mm Rear Big Brake Kit, the brake pad is moved further outboard from the center of the hub, thereby improving braking system torque, heat transfer and repeatable, high speed stopping power. Compared to the original 272 and 282mm factory rear brakes, our Rear Big Brake Kit provides a more neutral braking bias when used with larger than stock front brake rotors.
Our Rear BBK is simple to install and an affordable choice against other more complicated big brake kit options. Our kit reuses the factory brake calipers, brackets, brake pads and lines, allowing you to choose how you want to upgrade your braking system as you need.
PART DESIGN
Our in-house Engineering Team designed our rear big brake kit in order to restore optimal braking bias and chassis balance when combined with larger front braking systems, such as OEM R32, ECS Stage 3, and ECS Stage 5 Front BBK’s.
Factory braking is conservatively biased towards the front of the car to minimize the tendency for oversteer, a characteristic that is exacerbated by the addition of a front BBK. Additionally, on cars with modified suspension components, weight transfer towards the front of the car is reduced, further exacerbating excessive front brake bias. Our system shifts up to 4% more braking power to the rear for a more neutral bias braking system.
Caliper Bracket Extensions are precision machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum for OE-fitment and are Type II black anodized for corrosion protection.
New class 10 securing hardware is included for mounting the extension to the spindle as well as new OEM-type hardware for mounting the factory caliper bracket to the extension.
New hardware features a standard hex head drive for easier installation than the factory triple square!
Lightweight design: Saves 1.90lbs/combined of rotating mass (vs OE 282mm) due to lightweight 2-piece semi-floating rotors and billet aluminum adapter brackets.
Our 2 piece semi-floating rotors with aluminum rotor hats are lightweight, strong and proven for performance and daily driving usage.
Weight savings:
The ECS 2-Piece 320x10mm rotor weighs only [9.10] lb each
OEM 272x10mm rotor at [8.55] lb. each
OEM 282x12mm rotor at [10.05] lb each
PERFORMANCE FEATURES
Provides increased overall braking potential and reduced stopping distance when paired with a Front BBK.
Precisely balances out braking performance when used with larger Front BBK’s, as up to 4% braking bias is shifter rearward
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Our ECS Rear Big Brake Kit was designed, engineered, tested and quality inspected by our Research and Development team in our Wadsworth, Ohio facility. We ensured the highest level of precision and quality is delivered throughout rigorous long term product testing and leading edge product development methods.
By carefully evaluating the multitude of braking systems and intended applications, our Engineering Team specified the ideal rear rotor size that precisely restores braking system balance in concert with Front BBK's, while maintaining OEM components such as calipers, brackets, pads, lines, even brake rotor dust shields!
INSTALLATION AND SUPPORT
**PLEASE NOTE!** Wheel spacers may be required depending on offset, wheel spoke location and design. We created wheel fitment templates depending on your OEM brake caliper setup to ensure proper fitment before ordering. Simply print off the PDF and install into the hub bore of your wheel to determine fitment and/or spacer needs.
**We do NOT recommend this Rear Big Brake Kit for standard small front brake applications, such as 288mm or 312mm front brake rotors. A minimum of R32 / Golf R / Performance Package upgraded OE fronts or aftermarket front big brake kits are recommended, such as ECS Stage 3 and Stage 5 BBK's for optimal performance.
**This kit is designed for the factory Bosch 272x10 rear brakes. Please check your existing parts prior to ordering. Bosch 272x10mm rear braking components have the following identifiers.
