ECS Tuning 8Y RS3 Front Mount Intercooler

The ECS Tuning Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) Kit boosts power and lowers intercooler outlet temps by maximizing core volume and smoothing air transition. While the 8Y features a large core from the factory, the intercooler has proven to be substantially undersized for enthusiasts pushing the limits of their vehicle. By utilizing previously unclaimed space behind the upper grille, the engineers at ECS Tuning have increased core size by over 130% and internal cross-sectional area by over 150%. Additionally, intake and outlet end tanks are revised to improve even flow distribution throughout the core and are fully machined to provide a smooth air transition.

DESIGN:

• 3D CAD modeling allows for optimal intercooler positioning and maximum core volume without requiring any modification to surrounding components (no drilling or cutting required).
• Inlet and outlet end tanks are optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics, allowing our engineers to ensure maximum flow from the charge pipe to the intercooler core.
• Cast aluminum end tanks are TIG welded to the core and feature machined transmissions for uninterrupted maximum airflow.
• Our intercooler design is pressure tested to 4.5 BAR (65 psi) to ensure reliability in the most extreme applications.
• Aluminum Straight Vane Bar and Plate Core (1305in.³ internal core volume)
• Lower Core: 22.1in x 10.83in x 4.5in (561mm x 275mm x 114.3mm)
• Upper Core: 22.1in x 4.5in x 2.3in (561mm x 114.3mm x 59mm)

We strive for the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long-term product testing.
