Overview Solve part of most common coolant-related failures on the Audi EA839 2.9T/3.0T platform with the TGK Motorsport Coolant Shutoff Valve Delete Kit. The Audi 2.9T/3.0T engine is notorious for current waterpump failures which then fill the vacuum system with coolant. When the system becomes full of coolant it then can lead to premature failure of the Coolant Shutoff Valve. The OEM vacuum-actuated shutoff valve is designed to block coolant flow at cold start to help the engine warm up faster. However, it's also known to fail in the closed position, preventing coolant from circulating entirely — a dangerous failure that can cause severe overheating. Our delete kit removes this weak point altogether, restoring full-time coolant flow and simplifying the cooling system. Machined from 6061 billet aluminum, it ensures optimal cooling performance and eliminates the risk of a failed shutoff valve taking out your engine. Specifications

Frequently Asked Questions Why does the OEM coolant shutoff valve fail? The OEM valve is vacuum-actuated and commonly fails when coolant enters the vacuum system due to waterpump failures, causing the valve to stick in the closed position. Will this affect my engine warm-up time? There may be a slight increase in warm-up time, but this trade-off eliminates the risk of catastrophic overheating from a failed shutoff valve. Is this a permanent solution? Yes, the delete kit permanently removes the problematic OEM valve and replaces it with a solid billet aluminum piece for reliable operation.
